"I Do What I Do (Theme For 9½ Weeks)" was a single
performed by John Taylor, giving his first solo singing performance during a hiatus in
Duran Duran's career and also features Michael Brecker performing saxophone. It was the main single released from the
Original Soundtrack album. ."I Do What I Do" was co-written
by Jonathan Elias, Michael Des Barres and John Taylor, after Des Barres was approached about
writing a song for the movie's soundtrack. It was originally intended to be
sung by Lisa Dalbello, but she bowed out at the last minute and John decided he could
do the song instead. "I Do What I Do" reached #23 on the Billboard
Hot 100 and #42 on the UK Singles Chart. It was also nominated in the 1986
Golden Raspberry Awards for "Worst Original Song", but lost to
"Love or Money" by Prince.

- "Feelings Are Good
And Other Lies" was John's first solo project after leaving
Duran Duran in 1997, in which he writes, performs and produces all the tracks. The CD was
originally marketed by mail order relying on word-of-mouth among Duran
fanzines and online communities, but released later on a large record
label. During this period Taylor was struggling to end his long addiction
to drink and drugs, which is he wrote about in the song "Trust the
Process" featured on this album.

"Terroristen" was a band
formed by John, with Gerry Laffy on guitar, Michael Railton / Tio Banks on keyboard,
Larry Aberman on drums. The EP was produced by Dan Chase and was
John Taylor Terroristen's debut live recording. The CD was recorded at The
Roxy in Hollywood (USA), on 30 May 1998. The recording features a version of the
song "Sin Of The City", about the Happy Land Fire in New York (USA) during
1990 when 87 people were killed. The song was largely written by Taylor
before it was recorded by duran Duran for their 1993 album Duran Duran, and he performed it frequently during his solo shows.

- "Meltdown"
John wrote and co-produced all the songs on the album except for
"Soul Fire", which was written by Reggae singer Lee Perry. Meltdown
was recorded seven years previously in 1992 at the home of Taylor, just before the release of
Duran Duran's The Wedding Album. The album was released on Taylor's own B5 record
label, purchase through his own website Trust The Process. The album was described by Taylor as
"upbeat dance electronica with a hip hop influence", some of the
lyrics reveal his disaffection with the Duran Duran lifestyle; he has said he came very near to leaving the band
during that time, but was held back by the sudden success of "Ordinary
World" and Come "Undone".

In 1999 Taylor signed a recording contract with the Japanese record label
Avex Trax and released this album with only the words John Taylor on the front cover, which is also known as
"The Japan Album".
Taylor dedicated the album to his late mother, who passed away in October
1988. Included is the song "Spirit Of the Times", with its many lyrical references to his home city
of Birmingham.

- "Techno for Two"
The musical style of the album is not techno, but wide ranging from
acoustic guitar to electronic age, as songs such as "Mister J" and "Nagel
Baby" suggest. Some of the tracks show an influence from The
Beatles and Roxy Music. The album includes an evolved version of "Mister
J", which was released as an early recording on John Taylor's
Meltdown. The song "6000 Miles" was co-written with Matthew
Hager and became an international hit.

The album "Metafour" is John's final solo release completed after the
Duran Duran reunion was under way. MetaFour is divided into five
sections, with the first containing instrumental music created for the Mi
Vida Loca film. The second is the instrumental for the film Blue
Flame. The third consists of previously unreleased live
performances from various points in Taylor's early solo career, while the
fourth contains a handful of acoustic performances and demos. The last
section is a 17-minute question and answer session Taylor took part in at
the Musicians Institute in Hollywood.
