"Election Day" was the first single released by Arcadia.It was released by Parlophone Records in October 1985 and subsequently hit the top ten on both sides of the Atlantic, peaking at #6 in the U.S. and #7 in the UK, but was the most successful in Ireland, peaking at #5 and in Italy, peaking at #1 (also reaching the Top 25 in Germany). Along with the Arcadia members, "Election Day" features Grace Jones on vocals and speech segments. When Smash Hits published the lyrics in their magazine, they published the complete lyric, which included a verse that was subsequently dropped from the released version of the song: - Don't even try to induce, In all my restrain there's no hesitation, All the signs on the loose 'casue sanity's rare this end of the hard day, Shadows are crawling out of the subway, Any way that you choose in every direction just to confuse me.

So Red the Rose was the platinum-selling album by the Arcadia. It was released in 1985 — the only album the band ever released. There were many musical guests on the album, including David Gilmour, Herbie Hancock, Grace Jones and Sting (who provided backing vocals on "The Promise"). Musically, the album was a more lush, ambient affair than the previous output of Duran Duran. The songs explored new sonic spaces and a number of the tracks were quite length. The album's artwork featured painted ink drawings inspired by the sketches of Jean Cocteau as well as an innovative "light space" photograph of the band by Dean Chamberlbain who also directed the video for the song, "Missing".

Goodbye Is Forever" was the second single release. It was released by Capitol Records in January 1986 in many regions around the world except the UK. It peaked at number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S. A video was made for both the A-side and B-side. The video for "Goodbye is Forever" was directed by Marcello Anciano and featured Simon and Nick as figures "stranded in time", almost like two characters out of SAMUEL Beckett. They actually appear to be trapped within the elaborate mechanisms of a giant clock whilst sitting on chairs that move along a circular railroad-guard. The moving chairs transport the two pop stars through many strange scenes and surreal episodes involving symbols of time. "Missing" was directed by Dean Chamberlain and featured many luminous, dreamlike images that were achieved through innovative photographic techniques involving extended exposure times and unique lighting applications.

"The Promise" was the third single. It was released by Parlophone Records in 1986 as the group's second UK single. It peaked at number 37 on the UK Singles Chart.The single mix for "The Promise" was heavily edited down from the album's hefty 7:28 to a leaner, more radio-friendly 4:45. In fact, even Alex Sadkin and Ron Saint Germain's "Extended remix" clocked in at only 7:05, almost 25 seconds shy of the album cut. The B-side to the single was an extended mix of album track "Rose Arcana".

"The Flame" is the fourth single. It was released by Parlophone Records in 1986 and was the group's third UK single. It reached number 58 in the UK Singles Chart. The campy, slapstick video was made in the retro style of an Edwardian -era drawing room murder mystery, à la Agatha Christie. The storyline revolved around a series of comic disasters that befall an awkward, nerdish character (played by Simon) and his girlfriend while visiting a haunted house. Nick plays the debonair host of the dinner party at the house, and he frequently uses Le Bon as his comic stooge for a number of macabre and mildly sadistic sight gags.Various unsavory bits of business ensue with revolving walls, trapdoors and mysterious assassins hidden behind paintings and within exotic taxidermied animals. The slapstick comic interplay between Rhodes and Le Bon is faintly reminiscent of Abbott and Costello. At one point, John Taylro comes out of the closet with a contract for the band to sign. This is an especially pointed inside joke, as it was around this time that the three remaining members were preparing to write and record their next duran duran album Notorious. The video's treatment is said to have been written by Rhodes and the various near-fatal pratfalls that occur to Le Bon's character was intended as punishment for his decision to enter the Fastnest yachting race that almost cost him his life in August 1985. In fact, Le Bon was in the middle of the South American leg of the 1986 Whitebread Round the World Race yacht race when he had to fly to Spain in April to shoot the video. He then flew straight back to rejoin his team in Uruguay. The video was directed by long time collaborator Russel Mulcahy.

"El Diablo" was only released as a Promo Single in Spain. No video was made.

"Say the Word" was the fifth and final single. Recorded for the soundtrack of Playing for Keeps. It was released as a single in the US. The video was an amalgam of previous Arcadia videos, interspersed with scenes from the film.

As part of EMI's massive duran duran reissue plans, a 3 disc (2CD, 1 DVD) boxset of So Red the Rose was released 12 April 2010. It included the entire album, single mixes, the b-sides "She's Moody and Grey, She's Mean and She's Restless" and "Flame Game (Yo Homeboy Mix)", four versions of non-album track "Say the Word" (a track specially commissioned for the soundtrack of Playing for Keeps, and an unreleased instrumental mix of "The Promise". The DVD contains the original 1987 video release Arcadia. But in 2008 a previous amazing more complete LIMITED EDITION for Japan fan club (23-track digitally) was remastered into 6 CD single set, comprising all the singles ever released for the Arcadia project ('So Red the Rose' album LP), also including 'Say The Word'. The packaging is a 'so red the velvet', faithfully replicating the original single sleeve artwork, plus 8-page fold-out picture booklet of lyrics and biography. All tracks by Taylor, Rhodes, Le Bon except tracks 05 & 09 by Rhodes, Le Bon. Produced by Alex Sadkin + Arcadia. All tracks mixed by Alex Sadkin with Ron Saint Germain, François Kevorkian, Larry Alexander and Jay Mark. Recorded by Larry Alexander assisted by Philippe Lafont.
